Woburn, MA (May 3, 2006)---Union Etchants Inc., a leader in environment friendly stock and custom-formulated products, including gold conductor, chrome, and gallium phosphide etchants and gold recovery products, has announced the introduction of its new patent-pending GoldEX KIT™: Gold Etch and Recovery Sample and Demonstration Kit.

The GoldEX KIT™ includes samples of all the components used in the wet gold etching process and for the recovery of the spent gold. Union Etchants Develops Revolutionary
New Product that Safely Recovers
Gold from Gold Etchant

Union Etchants International, Inc. (UEI) recently introduced a revolutionary, new product for electronics and semiconductor manufacturers called GOLDOUT™. GOLDOUT™ can recover 99.4% of the gold from spent UEI gold etchant, with minimal health and safety risks to the user, in a cost effective manner. In contrast to other gold recovery products now on the market which require more complex health and safety procedures for use, GOLDOUT™ is relatively safe: all the user needs is proper safety glasses and rubber gloves.

"The GOLDOUT™ process breaks the molecular bonds in the gold etchant without the use of strong acids or volatile chemicals," says Robert Union, UEI president and developer of the process. "It is harder on metals, than on the people who use them. It is a chemically stable product that doesn't generate any hazardous fumes."

Gold etchants are used by the semiconductor and microelectronics industry to create, or etch, ultra-precise circuitry patterns on substrates with gold on them. The ability to more easily recover gold provides semiconductor manufacturers with added savings.

When mixed in water, GOLDOUT™ has a pH of 7.9, rendering the spent etchant less hazardous than other gold recovery chemicals that have lower pH levels. This is an important benefit as it enables manufacturers to save money on waste disposal, regulatory compliance (recordkeeping, reporting, and tracking), and potential future liabilities.

GOLDOUT™ was designed to complement UEI's high-quality iodine-based gold etchant, and is sold that way. UEI gold etchants are available in batch controlled pre-mixed liquid or powder form and are transported using UN approved packaging.
